Why Dance Matters During Exam Season

Exam season is in full swing – SATs, GCSEs, A-Levels – and we know our students are deep into revision mode. It’s a busy, sometimes stressful time, and we want to start by saying how proud we are of all the hard work you're putting in.

At the same time, we want to remind you that it’s okay – and actually really important – to take a break. When you're sitting for hours revising, your body and brain can quickly get tired. That’s where dance comes in.

Coming to class isn’t just about learning routines. It gives you space to move, breathe, and reconnect with your friends. It's a chance to clear your head, shake off the stress, and do something you enjoy. Even just one or two sessions a week can make a huge difference to your focus, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.

Some students feel like they have to stop everything else during exams, but keeping some normality – like your regular dance class – can actually help you revise more effectively. You return to your books with a fresh mind, more motivation, and a better mood.

We absolutely support your commitment to your education. But we also believe that looking after yourself, mentally and physically, is part of that success. You don’t have to choose between school and dance. With a little balance, you can do both.

So if you're feeling the pressure, remember: you’re not alone, and you don’t have to push through it without any joy. Keep dancing, keep moving, and keep looking after yourself. We’ll be right here cheering you on – both in class and from the sidelines.
